Welcome to the Kent Family History Society. Established in 1974 as the largest and oldest Family History Society in Kent, with more than 3,200 members worldwide, we are uniquely able to help members to learn how to research their own family tree.

The Society publishes an informative quarterly journal which is sent free to members.  Members are invited to list their research interests on our Members Interests Website.

Branch meetings are held in Ashford, Canterbury, Deal, Maidstone, Medway (Strood), Thanet (Birchington). In addition, there is a Branch in New Zealand and an on-line "Global Branch".  These meetings are free to local members or to any member visiting the County. Some branches organise visits to the National Archives and other places of interest.

We have published more than 2,000 records on microfiche . Also available are a range of CDs with indexes to Parish Registers and census returns. These publications are available at a reduced price to members and to non-members at full price. We also have a Bookstall which sells books and a range of CDs to assist with your research. The Society has an extensive Library open to members to visit or to borrow from.
